Private equity-backed UK firm HF has scooped up the roughly 40-strong team of a firm heading into administration.
The London-based team joined HF yesterday from Rosling King, which had filed a notice to appoint administrators earlier this month, citing ‘significant creditor pressure’ for its closure.
HF, which advises clients in the insurance and commercial sectors, has grown quickly since it sold a minority stake to UK private equity firm CBPE in late 2024.
The Rosling King team will add expertise to HF's existing commercial team in areas including dispute resolution, insolvency and real estate and significantly add to the Manchester-based firm's presence in the capital.
Ronan McCann, HF's chief executive and managing partner, said the incoming staff were "highly regarded in their field and we’re pleased and excited to have them join us. Within HF, they will provide the same excellent standard of service, backed by HF’s scale, innovation and technology."
Rosling King appointed Kirstie Provan and Mark Fry of BTG as joint administrators over the firm on 26 May 2026. Immediately following their appointment, the administrators completed the deal with HF, which the firm said was integral to preserving the roles of all employees in their legal team and a solution for all Rosling King clients to have the same team doing their work.
Georgina Squire, senior partner of Rosling King, commented: “We are thrilled to be joining HF and to be part of their ongoing success. We’re looking forward to being able to focus on providing outstanding service to our clients as part of a successful and growing business.”
In a statement issued last week, Rosling King said the creditor pressure it was experiencing had become "unmanageable in a situation where the firm is owed very sizeable sums in unpaid fees that it is collecting".
Earlier this month, HF also announced an agreement to acquire, subject to Solicitors Regulatory Authority approval, London-based firm Hempsons, which has 250 employees across five offices and specialises in the health, social care and charity sectors.
With Hempsons and Rosling King, HF will have around 300 lawyers across the UK and Ireland, out of a total expanded headcount of around 1,300 staff.
