Spanish firm Pérez-Llorca has relocated two key partners from its office in Bogota, Colombia, as it looks to continue its international expansion initiative.

Juan David Quintero will move to New York, where he will continue to practice corporate M&A, while Alejandro Sanabria will move to Madrid to practice tax law. Both remain partners at the firm and will continue to practice Colombian law in their respective offices.

The firm said that the move will bring its local Colombian expertise closer to where investments and deals originate and are structured, helping to ensure international clients are offered a full service on potential Latin American investments.

Part of a firm-wide, internal initiative known as Project Scala, the move seeks to further boost and benefit from the firm’s international expansion while developing an “Ibero-American legal platform”. This comes amid growing investment flows between Latin America and Europe, the firm said, which has meant clients are increasingly looking for cross-border advice on transactions and investments between these regions.

Quintero is admitted to practice in both Colombia and the state of New York and boasts 15 years of cross-border domestic and international M&A, PE, joint venture and reorganisation experience. Sanabria’s relocation will allow the firm to offer better tax support to European investors looking to enter Latin American markets or expand into the region.

Iván Delgado, who heads up Pérez-Llorca’s international strategy from New York, said that the move “reflects a new reality” where “investments are no longer structured in isolation between two jurisdictions”/

The move also comes amid a general expansion into Latin America. The firm’s senior partner Pedro Pérez-Llorca also temporarily relocated to Mexico City for a year at the start of this year to help develop the Ibero-American platform, and in July the firm completed a merger with Peruvian firm Miranda & Amado, its first foray into the country.

Other firms have taken a similar approach in recent years as they look to connect Latin American practice with international capital. Fellow Spanish firm Cuatrecasas relocated Felipe Mariño from its Bogota office to New York in October 2025, as it looked to strengthen its presence in the city and connect its Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru offices.

New York is increasingly becoming a hub for Spanish firms looking to connect Latin America with U.S- and Canadian-based capital.
