Pinsents highlights EU flaws in cybersecurity law plans

An EU initiative to help the development of co-operation and information-sharing between organisations must ensure that businesses know how they can collaborate, according to Pinsent Masons.

So far 18 out of the 28 EU states have a national cyber security strategy (NCSS), according to the EU. These strategies are likely to usher in new legislation on the subject. Another strand is likely to be encouragement of collaboration between organisations.

But the translation of aims into action remains a challenge. At the moment, many companies prefer to keep knowledge of security breaches to themselves. Luke Scanlon, a technology expert at Pinsents, said: 'Many organisations remain unclear about the extent they can engage in cyber risk protection initiatives. It is important for legislators to address this issue as a matter or priority.' Source: Out-law
