The bill means, in practice, that the North Dakota police can employ drones for a wide range of uses. This is the surprise outcome of a bill that was first intended to require the police to obtain a warrant before using a drone to search for criminal evidence. The intention of the preliminary draft of the bill was to ban the use of weapons through them.

The sponsor of the bill, Republican Rick Becker, said: 'In my opinion there should be a nice, red line. Drones should not be weaponized. Period.' Source: ABA
