Rajah & Tann Singapore has appointed Paras Lalwani and Reka Mohan as partners from Bayfront Law to strengthen its commercial litigation practice.

Lalwani joins the partnership with a strong reputation for his proficiency in commercial disputes, international arbitration and regulatory investigations. His extensive experience includes regular appearances before Singapore’s courts and various arbitral tribunals, where he has successfully represented clients in institutional and ad hoc proceedings.

Lalwani’s expertise positions him as a key asset for clients navigating intricate legal challenges in the commercial landscape.

Mohan brings a diverse and dynamic practice to the partnership, covering various legal areas. Her experience spans banking and finance disputes, corporate and commercial litigation, and domestic and international arbitration.

Additionally, Mohan handles matters related to restructuring, insolvency and shareholder disputes. She boasts an impressive portfolio, representing various high-profile clients, including listed companies, multinational corporations, regional banks and high-net-worth individuals. Her capability in managing complex, high-value and multi-jurisdictional cases underscores her integral role within the firm’s litigation team.

Ng Kim Beng, managing partner of Rajah & Tann Singapore, said: “As client needs grow increasingly complex, we are delighted to have Paras and Reka – both excellent and well-regarded disputes specialists – bring their considerable experience to add to the firm’s dispute resolution strengths.”

Lalwani joins the firm after two years as head of international arbitration and director (partner-equivalent) at Bayfront Law, a formal law alliance with Japan’s Nishimura & Asahi.

Before that, he was a director at a leading Singapore independent firm Drew & Napier for more than four years – his second stint at the firm, having trained and qualified there in 2009.

From 2016 to 2019 he was a partner at Dentons Rodyk, which he joined as a senior associate in 2015 from K&L Gates, where he spent two-and-a-half years.

Adrian Wong, head of dispute resolution at Rajah & Tann, added: “The arrival of Paras adds new energy, insight and proven experience to our firm’s dispute resolution bench – this is all aimed at delivering even greater value to our clients in a fast-changing world.”

Mohan, meanwhile, joins after just seven months at Bayfront Law, where she was a senior associate. She was previously a senior associate at Morgan Lewis Stamford for a year, and before that, an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright between 2019 and 2021. She trained and qualified at WongPartnership, where she spent six years, rising to senior associate.

The duo’s arrival follows shortly after the death of Patrick Ang, a leading insolvency lawyer in Asia and former managing partner of Rajah & Tann, who passed away aged 61 in June.
