Law firms have been a staple feature year of the survey, which claims to rank ‘the cream of Britain’s employers.’ City firms have tended to dominate, and to a certain extent that is still the case. Kingsley Napley (23) and Withers (61) have both improved on their 2015 rankings, which were 38 and 77 respectively. London-based corporate and commercial specialist Lewis Silkin made its debut on the list at number 76, but other corporate firms are dropping down the table. Mishcon De Reya fell 10 places from seven to 17, while Mills & Reeve dropped from 72 to 74. Commercial superpower Baker & McKenzie has dropped off the list altogether, having come in at number 80 in 2015.
Exeter-based full-service practice Stephens Scown became the highest ranked law firm on the list at number 12, while Bath-based Withy King has moved down slightly in the rankings, from 42 last year to 45. Fast-growing Fletchers Solicitors has made its debut on the list this year, coming in at a respectable number 82. Fletchers is now the biggest medical negligence firm in the UK and is the only law firm in its sector to feature on the prestigious list. Source: The Sunday Times; Legal Cheek
