Rise in Spanish claims against lawyers pushes up lawyer indemnity fees

Professional indemnity insurance for lawyers across Europe is expected to go up by seven per cent between 2013 and 2017, according to Partner Re - pushed up by a growing tendency among Spanish clients to sue their advisers.

Partner Re calculates that the collective bill for fees will be €955 by 2017, up from €890. Marc van der Veer of PartnerRe says that clients are increasingly trying to recoup their only losses by making negligence claims.
