Satisfaction high among Aussie lawyers

The majority of lawyers in Australia are happy with their jobs, naming work-life balance as the key to their happiness, a survey has found.

Work-life balance the key to happiness?

The Robert Walters’ Employee Insights Survey revealed that 56 per cent of 1000 legal professionals surveyed rated themselves as ‘happy to very happy’ with their job, while a further 32 per cent said they were ‘satisfied’.
Only 12 per cent of those surveyed claimed to be ‘unhappy’ with their job, reports Lawyers Weekly.

Positive attitudes

Samantha Campbell, manager of Robert Walters’ legal division in Brisbane, said that it is encouraging to see positive attitudes among legal professionals. She told the website: ‘In light of challenging economic times and many law firm mergers and restructures, it’s understandable for individuals to not be completely satisfied at work all the time.’
The results fly in the face of a survey by Lawyers Weekly itself earlier this month, in which responders were split between enjoying work (31 per cent) and wanting to leave (30 per cent).
