Scottish criminal lawyers move to data share and recording app

Over 100 criminal lawyers at different Scottish practices are using an app developed by colleague Avtar Bhatoa, senior partner of Bullivant Law, in conjunction with Bullseye Solutions.

Scottish criminal lawyers are collaborating via an app Gil C

Mr Bhatoa is a former chair of the Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates. He said that the app helps lawyers get round the issue that prisons and police stations are deliberately offline. He said: 'Without the app we would have to come back to the office and write up all the details. The app sends all your data to a central server, which is available to all your colleagues. All you need to do is save your work.' Interviews with clients can also be recorded on the digital dictation system that is included in the app.

Out of office

Many criminal practices are on the verge of going under financially, he said. Saving costs is, therefore, a crucial issue for them. The app has been developed just as the Ministry of Justice begins to assume in its tendering contests that lawyers will be working remotely. Criminal lawyers tend to spend more time working away from the office - at courts and in prisons, for instance - than other lawyers. Source: Scottish Legal News
