SEC member puts case for slimming down company filings

Securities and Exchange Commission Republican member Daniel Gallagher said last week that filed documents are often poor at providing information to investors.

Addressing the Institute for Corporate Counsel annual conference in New York, he said: '"I often hear from investors that disclosure documents are lengthy, turgid, and internally repetitive…They are ... not efficient mechanisms for transmitting the most critically important information to investors.'  Source: Money.MSN
