Ms Haxby will assume the role of managing partner for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in January next year after having spent the bulk of her 23-year career in the Squire Patton Boggs’ Manchester-based corporate practice. Her appointment comes alongside that of sports partner Fred Nance, who has been named as the transatlantic firm’s US global managing partner. Ms Haxby commented: ‘Having worked with many colleagues across the globe during my career it is clear that we are well positioned to meet the evolving needs of clients and unlock even greater potential from the vast talent and resources within our organisations.’ She will serve for an initial three-year term.
Crossley takes a bow
Ms Haxby’s appointment signals the end of an era for Squire Patton Boggs. Incumbent European leader Peter Crossley will step down from the helm at the end of this year, ending a 12-year tenure at the head of the firm’s European practice. Under his guidance, Squire Patton Boggs has climbed into the top 40 firms of the Global 100 and has expanded to a global headcount of more than 1,500 lawyers, 500 of them partners. Announcing his retirement in September, Mr Crossley confirmed that he will being staying on with Squires after handing the reins to his successor.
