A LawCare survey, reported by Legal Futures, revealed that three-quarters of some 1,000 lawyers who responded claimed to be more stressed than they were five years ago. Two-thirds also reported that they are reluctant to talk about their concerns with their employer.
Unattainable targets
The respondents, who were self-selecting to an online questionnaire, highlighted being overworked as the main cause of stress (60 per cent) followed by isolation (53 per cent), long hours (41 per cent), poor pay (30 per cent) and having unattainable targets (30 per cent).
LawCare chief executive Hilary Tilby said the results showed that lawyers fear reporting stress ‘may jeopardise their job’.
