The Global Legal Post today launches the second edition of the Law Over Borders comparative guide to ESG laws and regulations.

Edited by Ulysses Smith, ESG senior adviser at Debevoise & Plimpton, Environmental, Social and Governance features contributions by leading firms from across the world.

It provides an up-to-date jurisdictional comparison of the latest legal and regulatory developments, enforcement and litigation trends, and policy and non-legal drivers of the major ESG developments impacting businesses across the world.

The online guide is available today and is free to view; print and PDF versions will be available later this month and the book will be officially launched at Luxury Law Summit London, which takes place at the British Museum on 10 June.

“It is an uncertain time for ESG, particularly in the US, although not exclusively,” writes Smith in the introduction. “Legal, regulatory, and policy developments are reshaping the ESG landscape in dramatic ways, prompting organisations to reassess their commitments and business and compliance strategies.”

He adds: “While ESG withdrawal is a predominant theme in the United States, significant legal developments are advancing sustainability objectives globally, including through binding legislation and regulatory enforcement.”

The easy-to-use digital format allows readers to quickly assess how different jurisdictions tackle common issues by comparing contributing authors’ answers to a series of carefully framed questions.

Topics covered in the guide include: the major laws/regulations specifically related to ESG; ESG-related litigation or enforcement activity; trends in governance; key information sources for each jurisdiction and predictions about the future direction of ESG.

Contributing firms include:

  • A&F Allende Ferrante Abogados (Argentina)
  • Fasken Martineau DuMoulin (Canada)
