Some 1,400 lawyers and accountants from the Magic Circle and Big Four firms earnt more than £1m in 2013. Lawyers - of whom 1,100 exceeded £1m and for whom partner pay averaged £1.1m - outdid the accountants, of whom 270 exceeded £1m and for whom partner pay averaged £700,000.
Merry-go-round
Deborah Hargreaves, director at the High Pay Centre, said: ‘It is not just the usual suspects of bankers and chief executives. Excessive top pay has infected other professions too. They are all part of the high pay merry-go-round and disclosure of top pay is really patchy.’ Source: This is Money
