The company, St Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, had saught an appeal to an earlier ruling which rejected the brewer’s attempt to stop Czech rival Budejovicky Budvar using the Budweiser name in England and Wales.
At a Court of Appeal hearing Anheuser-Busch listed Sir Robin Jacob's ‘light-hearted’ comments among other ‘allegations of unfairness’ in attempt to have the case heard in the UK Supreme Court, reports the London Evening Standard.
However, the Supreme Court blocked the attempts to continue litigation, deciding that Sir Robin's comments were ‘unfortunate, though clearly light-hearted’.
