Top UK law firms suffer dark web password breach

The UK's top law firms have been targeted by the dark web, according to reports.

Around 1.16 million email addresses from 500 top law firms have been found on a dark web monitoring platform by cyber intelligence company RepKnight which reported that one law firm accounted for 30,000 emails addresses. More than 900,000 of those addresses had associated passwords that were visible or “easily cracked online,”  RepKnight pointed out, adding that the breached email addresses and passwords put law firms and their employees at risk of phishing and bot attacks.

Breaches

The cyber company found the exposed email information after using a dark web monitoring platform to search for domains from a list of UK law firms. It reported that most of the exposed credentials came from breaches of websites and systems unconnected to the law firms where employees have used their work email addresses. Source: ZDNet
