UK braced for biggest class action suit against Volkswagen

As lawyers research the possibility that Volkswagen fixed its emissions equipment in cars sold in the UK, specialists are saying that any collective action that results would break records in UK litigation.

VW is preparing to release more details about which brands and models could be affected and the next steps to be taken by the company Quka

Volkswagen has now admitted that car equipment was rigged in Europe as well as in the US. It has yet to be established in which markets in Europe the practice was carried out. If rigging did happen, class action specialist firm Slater + Gordon believes that substantial numbers of car owners would be able to make a claim for significant compensation through a class action [group action, in the UK].

Biggest action

Speaking on BBC Radio 4, Jacqueline Young, head of litigation at the firm, said that 'we are facing probably the biggest group action we've seen'.
