UK government to legalise some forms of pirating

In a series of changes to update the obsolete UK copyright law, the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is planning to legalise DVD and CD 'ripping.'

Under current copyright laws, it is illegal to put rip songs from your own CD and put them on your MP3 player.  The new laws will legalise this practice given that it’s only for personal use, and given that the CD or DVD in question is owned rather than rented or on-demand.  Source: Telegraph
