US energy storage innovator Eos has appointed Marie Batz Martin as chief legal officer, replacing Michael Silberman, who is departing the company in September.
Martin joins from optical and laser tech manufacturer Coherent Corp, where she was global vice president and chief compliance officer. At Eos, she will be responsible for providing legal, compliance and corporate governance leadership.
Pittsburgh-based Eos develops zinc-powered batteries, which are non-flammable and potentially cheaper and more sustainable compared to other types of energy storage systems.
Joe Mastrangelo, Eos CEO, said: “Marie has built high-performing teams and advised complex global businesses through periods of growth and operational change. She brings the legal expertise, judgement and public-company experience Eos needs as we execute our strategy and scale the business.”
Martin spent three years at Coherent Corp, initially as general counsel and chief compliance officer, before moving solely to compliance. Prior to joining Coherent, she spent two years as GC at FlightSafety International and two years as a corporate and M&A shareholder at Dentons Cohen & Grigsby.
She was previously legal counsel at Pittsburgh-based manufacturing business Arconic for 12 years.

Silberman, meanwhile, is leaving Eos after just over two and a half years. He will remain on until 11 September to ensure a smooth transition. Prior to joining Eos he was GC at Trecora Resources.
Mastrangelo added: “We thank Michael for his leadership, partnership and significant contributions to Eos over the years. His counsel and commitment were pivotal in guiding the company through an important chapter in our evolution, and we are grateful for his dedicated service and lasting impact.”
In April, US solar and battery storage developer BlueWave hired Becky Limmer as GC, replacing CLO Deborah Collum, who retired in March.
Meanwhile, back in March 2024, US battery recycling business Cirba Solutions appointed Jake Wilson as chief legal officer from Albermale Corporation – the world’s largest provider of lithium for electric vehicle batteries.
