US law firms grow at 4.3pc in Q1 2014

Productivity - measured in the numbers of hours billed by lawyers - was 3.8 per cent  in Washington DC, one of the higher performing revenues. Washington also saw 6 per cent  revenue growth and a rise of 1.6 per cent in demand. Brent Smith, a Citi director, said: ‘As a legal market, DC  has been one of the primary locations to benefit from the recovery. When we look at the practice areas that are showing the most strength, regulatory continues to be among the top. Washington is one of the locations that would benefit from that.’ Source: Washington Post
