The total number of females promoted to partner was only five per cent higher this year than a decade ago. Linda Chanow, executive director of the Center for Women in Law, said: ‘It is statistically bizarre that firms can’t promote more women. There is a big difference between talking about promoting women and actually doing it.’ Women account for at least 40 per cent of law school graduates.
