Mr Schultz is returning to Zuckerman Spaeder as a partner this week after joining as President Obama’s general counsel for the Department of Health and Human Services in 2011. The bulk of his time in the Obama administration has been spent making headway for one of the President’s most prolific and divisive policies – the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often nicknamed Obamacare. Though President-Elect Donald Trump has promised to repeal and replace Obamacare, Mr Schultz doubts that the landmark policy will be revoked in its entirety: ‘I’m skeptical that the new administration and particularly the Senate would support legislation that would take health insurance away from 20 million people who gained it during the Affordable Care Act,’ he told the The National Law Journal. At Zuckerman Spaeder, Mr Schultz will rejoin a team of established health-industry focused partners, advising companies, consumers and nonprofits on the influence of policy and in litigation matters.
