Clients push law firms to outsource

General counsel and other buyers of legal services are increasingly putting pressure on law firms to outsource, according to the 2014/15 survey on outsourcing from Williams Lea and Sandpiper Partners.

The research report concludes that 60% of surveyed law firms in the US and UK see outsourcing and the streamlining of work processes as ‘the top challenged in satisfying clients’. Some 40% of respondents now use centralised services.

Expense control

Aurora Coya, chief executive officer at Williams Lea in the Americas, said: ‘More and more outsourcing decisions are driven by increased pressure from law firm clients — not only to reduce cost but also to show progress in expense control.’ Source: Business Wire
