The newly-formed e-discovery practice of KPMG in Canada has acquired Montreal-based Ledjit Consulting.

KPMG: The firm has acquired an e-discovery company Gordon Bell

KPMG’s team of 12 will now be boosted by the arrival of the four consultants who come with the acquisition of the consultancy. Bill Thomas, senior partner and chief executive of KPMG Canada, said: ‘The addition of Ledjit professionals and their e-discovery skills positions KPMG as a leading advisor to corporations and law firms on how to proactively manage records from creation to destruction, and in the course of litigation and investigation.’

Leverage

Dominic Jaar, Ledjit’s former president who is joining KPMG, said: ‘We are going to leverage KPMG’s international structure. Accounting firms have been working with law firms for years as expert witnesses, providing what is called litigation support. Now, with the development of technology, there is a similar need to help lawyers gather the electronic evidence [and] review the massive volume of documents that they normally don’t have the software or the expertise to do that.’ Source: Montreal Gazette
