Linklaters appoints new India head on wave of business optimism

A quadrilingual, London-based finance partner has been appointed head of the India practice after the founder of the practice, the current incumbent Sandep Katwala, stands down after a decade in post.

Narayan Iyer became a partner in Linklaters in 2007 but spent three years with its Indian best friend, Talwar Thakore & Associates, before returning to the London Linklaters office in 2013. He has acted for Barclays, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and several other major banks on a range of financing transactions. 

Reform programme

He said: 'India is riding on a wave of optimism following Mr Modi’s election last year. If the new government’s programme of reform continues over the coming years, we will see India become an even more attractive market.' He speaks Tamil and French as well as English and Hindi.
