Accountants make advice inroads with corporates, says GC

The Big Four accountancy firms are 'eating the law firms' lunch' in terms of their relationships with in-house lawyers, according to the former head of Reed Smith, now GC and PNC.

Keeping close: accountants

Gregory Jordan joined PNC Financial as GC about a year ago and gave some advice to law firm managing partners at the Thomson Reuters Law Firm Leaders Forum this month. Speaking of the Big Four, he said: ‘They come in, they talk for an hour, they’re concise, they’re proactive, and they tell me what I need to know based on what they’re seeing in the field and from other clients of theirs.’

Stay close

He added that law firms also need to copy the accountants in the way that the latter manage to stay close to in-house lawyers on an ongoing basis. Source: Above the Law
