Aussie construction lawyer starts boutique to avoid conflicts

The former head of construction at Holding Redlich has left the firm, taking eight lawyers with him, in order to set up a boutique practice.

Stephen Pyman is also being joined by Josh Kemp, a senior associate at Norton Rose Fulbright, and Gareth Rogers, formerly of Holding Redlich. Mr Pyman pointed to losing work through conflicts of interest as a main factor in deciding to start the new firm. He said: 'Our clients don’t want to be told, ‘We can’t act for you because someone has opened a file for the other side in Melbourne.' Holding Redlich has offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
