Chinese hackers target Australian law firms

Legal practices are among the businesses being targeted by at least 13 advanced malware groups from China, according to a forensics expert.

Addressing the Australian Information Security Association Conference was Mark Goudie of Mandiant, the cyber security firm. Mr Goudie, director of security consulting services for Australia and New Zealand, said that the hackers are using the law firms as a conduit in order to get intelligence from big business. 

Data aggregators

He said: ‘The law firms are data aggregators and are being targeted…Anything that goes through a lawyer is obviously of interest to a deal.’  Source: The Register
