Latham & Watkins, Proskauer Rose, Debevoise & Plimpton and Ropes & Gray have all added lawyers in the Hong Kong office over the last year. The boost in demand for investigations work was triggered by the bribery probe into GlaxoSmithKline in China in summer 2014.
New front
Bradley Klein, an investigations specialist at Skadden, Slate, Meagher & Flom, said that corporates are now realising that they can no longer consider regulation a concern primarily in their home country. He said: ‘This opened up a new front and the risk of having to juggle multiple investigations in multiple jurisdictions.’ Source: Bloomberg
