Long-awaited Cooley office opens in London

The former head of Morrison & Foerster in London, Justin Stock, has been appointed head of the new 55-lawyer office opened by California-based Cooley in Old Broad Street in the City of London.

The firm has opened with 20 partners and another 35 lawyers and other professionals. 'Cooley plans to make a big impact in London,' said Joe Conroy, chief executive of the 850-lawyer firm. The vice-chair of Cooley's business department, Ryan Natfulin, is relocating to London from Washington DC. He said: 'London has an entrepreneurial spirit that we understand well and a burgeoning tech sector to which we can contribute.' 

Renowned litigators

In its press release, Cooley names some of the partners who have joined the firm - 'including David Bresnick, Chris Coulter, Ed Lukins, and Nicholas Bolter, as well as renowned litigators Laurence Harris and Kevin Perry and a leading reinsurance group of five partners led by David Kendall'.
