Mid-sized law firms globally are experiencing substantial growth despite the recession, according to research from law firm network TAGLaw.The network, which conducted the research in association with the Georgetown University of Law Centre found that 64 per cent of respondents reported growth of more than 10 per cent and 29 per cent reported growth more than 25 per cent.

Technology spend up

The research also found that firms  experiencing growth  also increased  their spend on technology to improve the delivery of legal services -  71 per cent of those who reported increased annual revenues of 10 per cent of more had increased their technology budgets since the global economic downturn in 2007.

The firms also pointed to firm culture as the top factor in the hiring and retention of lateral hires with 46 per cent of firms citing firm culture as the main draw for lateral hires in their marketplace.
