Insurance firm Plexus Law has made two significant lateral team hires, totalling 17 lawyers and 10 support staff, to launch new offices and expand its network. All 27 of the new recruits join from Kennedys.

Investment

The expansion comes just months after the firm secured a £15m minority investment from Origin Equity LLP to support its growth and innovation plans, and the appointment of Fiona Scott to the position of ceo. Ms Scott joined Plexus in December from Kennedys where she sat on the Board for four years as global finance director. Among the new hires are partner Sarah Cornish, heading up the firm’s financial lines offering, and Andrew Caplan, who has been appointed to head up the Liability practice and starts next week. Commenting on the appointments, Ms Scott said, “We are thrilled to have such a talented team of people joining us. We operate in a highly competitive market and finding the right talent forms a major part of our growth strategy.

Demand

Ms Scott explained, “We’re seeing increased demand, particularly from our London market and reinsurer clients, for claims handling and litigation expertise in specialist areas such as financial lines, and liability work so it’s the right time for us to strengthen our expertise and service offering to clients. The experience that Sarah, Andrew and their teams bring perfectly complements the areas that we have identified as significant growth opportunities, and we know that they will be an enormous asset to the firm. These appointments also strengthen our regional presence and support the growth of our UK-wide network of offices.”
