Katherine Brennan has returned to Marsh & McLennan Companies as its deputy general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer. Ms Brennan will report to general counsel Peter Beshar and be based in the company’s New York headquarters. From 2008 to 2015, Ms Brennan served in a number of leadership roles at Marsh & McLennan, including general counsel of Guy Carpenter, senior corporate counsel and assistant corporate secretary. For the past two years, she has served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at S&P Global, (formerly McGraw Hill Financial). 'I am delighted to welcome Kate back to Marsh & McLennan,' said Mr Beshar. 'Kate’s significant industry experience, strong working relationships with our management team and board of directors, and demonstrated track record of managing complex legal, governance and regulatory matters make her an ideal choice for this important leadership role.' 

British standards organisation BSI has appointed Grainne Brankin as general counsel and company secretary. She joins the company from Centaur Communications. Earlier she worked for Clifford Chance and prior to that she spent nearly 10 years with Yahoo!  in various senior legal roles. 

Fort Lauderdale company Moss Construction Management has appointed Kim Gessner as deputy general counsel. She was previously counsel and co-chair of the construction practice group at law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. 

Richard Walker, who departed as general counsel of Deutsche Bank last year, has joined King & Spalding as a partner in New York. The Atlanta-based firm has more than 1000 lawyers and has opened 15 offices since 2008. 

Biopharmaceutical company Sucampo Pharmaceuticals has promoted Alex Driggs to become its general counsel and corporate secretary. He started at the company as associate general counsel two years ago and has served as acting general counsel since June 2017. He has held positions at Amgen  and Micromet and began his career at Cooley where he worked in life sciences and technology.
