At least one law firm, Lander & Rogers, has received over Aus $1.2m in 2010 and about $5m over the last five years. Supporters of the scheme say it encourages efficiency among legal advisers; opponents say it could encourage them to cut corners. A WorkSafe spokesman said that law firms received the bonuses only if they 'meet a range of performance criteria, which includes achieving a timely outcome for injured workers' claims for compensation and reducing the use of the courts'.
