Axiology hires former Lithuanian central bank lawyer as its first CLO

Lithuanian capital markets fintech Axiology has hired Aurimas Galdikas as chief legal officer, a newly created position to help strengthen its legal function.

Galdikas joins from Lithuania’s national development bank ILTE Lietuva, where he was an advisor on capital markets, investment funds and structured markets. At Axiology he will be responsible for all legal, regulatory, structuring and governance operations, as well as managing legal risk, licensing, regulatory reporting and strategic initiatives.

Vilnius-based Axiology is a regulated distributed ledger technology trading and settlement platform to support tokenised asset management and trading in Europe. It also provides cross-border securities depository within the European Economic Area.

Galdikas spent just under two years at ILTE, having previously spent more than 12 years at the Bank of Lithuania, the majority of the time as chief legal counsel for investment management, banking and financial market operations.

Prior to that he was chief lawyer for investment services and investment funds at the Lithuanian Securities Commission.

He said: “I look forward to applying my international financial market experience to ensure that we adhere to the highest standards of legal and regulatory compliance. I aim to strengthen Axiology’s legal framework by working closely with colleagues, partners and regulators to help establish a trusted, transparent and resilient ecosystem for tokenised securities.”

In other recent fintech moves, earlier this month US retirement savings platform Basic Capital hired former Goldman Sachs in-house counsel Jake Eigner as its first general counsel. Back in April, Singapore treasury management fintech Finmo hired Matt Poblocki as its first GC from crypto business Binance, where he led the company’s Australia and New Zealand business.

And in March, US lending software-focused fintech Solifi hired Kevin Smith as its first CLO from corporate spend management business Jaggaer, where he was GC.
