US medtech giant Becton Dickinson (BD) has named Lanesha Minnix as its next general counsel, ending the search for a new legal head following the departure of Michelle Quinn last year.
Minnix joins from Walgreens Boots Alliance, where she was chief legal officer. At BD, she will be responsible for leading the company’s legal and public affairs matters. She will report directly to chairman and CEO Tom Polen and serve on its executive leadership team. She will take up her new role on 16 March.
New Jersey-based BD is one of the world’s largest medical technology companies, manufacturing a range of clinical equipment used in areas such as surgery, medication management and health monitoring, as well as biopharma systems. It employs more than 60,000 people globally.
Polen said: “Driving durable growth and innovation in healthcare requires leaders who can enable progress across the enterprise in a dynamic environment. Lanesha brings the strategic mindset, governance strength and operational discipline to help us reach world-class levels of excellence, move faster and deliver value for our customers and shareholders.”
Minnix arrives at BD after almost two years at Walgreens, having joined in April 2024 from Ecolab, where she was GC. She also had earlier stints at Flowserve as CLO and BMC as GC, as well as deputy GC at ABM Industries, senior legal counsel at Shell and corporate counsel at Sprint Nextel.
She started her legal career as a corporate associate in private practice at K&L Gates.
Quinn, meanwhile, left BD to join medtech peer Medtronic last July after six-and-a-half years at the company, two of them as GC.
Prior to that, she was GC for former Novartis generics unit Sandoz’s North America business, among other roles. She also had spells as associate GC at Catalent Pharma Solutions and as IP and regulatory counsel for North America at legacy French food business Groupe Soparind Bongrain.
In other recent healthcare-related moves, earlier this month value-based care company TailorCare hired George Lyford as GC from Harbor Health. Also in February, US drugmaker Viatris hired Matthew Maletta as CLO from Par Health, while in January health tech business Hello Heart hired David Wood as GC from Hinge Health.
