Beirut Bar Association head vows to represent all

George Jreij, who has just been elected as the new head of the Beirut Bar Association, has declared that he will work for the whole of the bar, regardless of political affiliation.

He told journalists after his election on Sunday: 'Although I am the choice of some ... I will work for the entire association'. He represents the March 14 coalition. He suggested that such an approach would represent a change as other presidents have taken a more political approach. About 7,000 lawyers were eligible to vote in the election. Source: Daily Star
