Bingham McCutcheon and Morgan Lewis in merger talks

The US-based international giants Bingham McCutcheon and Morgan Lewis & Bockius are discussing merger plans which would create a top ten global firm with over 2,200 lawyers.

Combined revenues would be £1.2b, based on 2013 income. The news has come out in London where a leak to Legal Week reveals that the London offices might not merge. The Bingham side, with its 23 partners, has not backed the proposal yet. Bingham was reported to be seeking a merger earlier this year, with Reuters reporting that the firm had approached Chicago-based Winston & Strawn, O'Melveny & Myers and Morrison & Foerster. A fall in the firm's revenue had seen a number of partners jumping ship and the firm cutting back on lawyers and support staff. Source: Legal Week
