Pinsent Masons, Eversheds Sutherland, Addleshaw Goddard, Herbert Smith Freehills and DWF are all included on the new panel, which does not include M&A work that is handled by a separate panel. Capita, which has public and private sector clients handles a variety of work including collecting TV licence fees for the BBC. The company recently fell out of the FTSE 100 after its profits before tax fell almost 20 per cent from £585.5 million in 2015 to £475.3 million in 2016 seeing its boss quit.
Market entry
In 2013, it sealed a deal with Pinsent Masons to handle document review work in Poland. Pinsents instructed Capita to review documents in relation to a large dispute case, with the work sent to the company’s operation in Krakow. Later that year, Capita entered the UK legal services market after acquiring the English business of Optima Legal, which offers conveyancing, property, litigation and recovery services. Optima was then granted alternative business structure status and became part of Capita Legal Services.
