The Brussels office of Crowell & Moring is teaming up with Young Bar, a local non-profit group, to launch a call-in clinic that offers legal services for free.

Thorny topics

The clinic will take place from 9 am to 4 pm GMT, April 13-14 at the firm’s Brussels office. Sponsored by the firm’s corporate social responsibility committee, 50 lawyers from across Brussels will gather to answer calls from the public on an array of thorny legal topics such as family law issues, consumption of goods, work, social security, bankruptcy, corporate, commercial, real estate management, contracts, immigration, taxation, and privacy, etc. The program is the brainchild of Young Bar, an organization that focuses on educating lawyers through pleading contests, moot court competitions, conferences, and debates.

Societal challenges

“This shows that Crowell & Moring is willing to tackle tough societal challenges such as improving access to justice,” said Stephanie Michiels, who is spearheading the effort for the firm. “The project brings the legal profession and the public closer together and demonstrates lawyers’ dedication to their profession.”
