Demand falls for prenups

Family lawyers say that demand has stayed still for the last 18 months and has even begun declining.Growing number of law firms are refusing to draw up pre-nuptial agreements up as they fear that the Family Court will overturn them. Meanwhile, some firms charge Aus$10,000 for a standard prenup to cover the cost of a potential negligence claim. Jeff Marhinin of Armstrong Legal says: 'There are ever-expanding grounds to challenge them and get them set aside. They're becoming more unsafe and people need to enter into them with real caution because of the uncertainty into the future.' Source: Sydney Morning Herald
