Dentons gets drones boost by recruiting top US regulator
As the rest of the world awaits the launch of US drone regulations to kickstart the sector, Dentons has recruited the man most involved in the area on the government side.

Jim Williams joins Dentons after more than 25 years at the Federal Aviation Administration, where he was appointed manager of its Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Office in 2012. From the Virginia office in McLean, he will advise clients on ‘aviation technology, regulatory and compliance issues with particular emphasis on the military, consumer and commercial use of unmanned aircraft’.
Significant change
Gordon Giffin, chair of the Public Policy and Regulation practice in Dentons in the US, said: ‘Federal, state and local policy surrounding unmanned aircraft is still in its infancy and represents one of the most significant changes in aviation since the development of the jet engine.’
