The insurance group has partnered with alternative business structure (ABS) Parabis Law to launch a new law firm which will be called DLG Legal Services, reports Legal Futures. The new practice will provide a range of services from personal injury and debt recovery to employment and contract issues. DLG Legal Services will service both policy and non-policy holders and, according to Paul Geddes, chief executive officer of Direct Line Group, will provide ‘affordable access to justice’ for those who need it.
ABS makes its mark
The move comes as a survey reveals that ABS law firms have made their mark on consumer legal services. The Affinity and Partnership Marketing in UK Legal Services report from financial services company Finaccord found evidence that new entrants to the market were making strides in a number of areas. It revealed that Parabis Law now had 9 per cent of will-writing and the Co-operative Legal Services had 6.1 per cent.
