Dusseldorf firm secures agreement for Bernie Ecclestone

Sven Thomas, a specialist in investigations and business crime defence in a small Dusseldorf law practice, was the main person negotiating Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone's settlement with a German court over the last week.

Bernie Ecclestone has agreed with German prosecutors a major fine to settle his case featureflash

Mr Ecclestone is to pay US$100m as his part of the bargain. Charges against him relating to bribery and incitement to breach of trust are being dropped three months into a trial in Munich. Mr Thomas of Thomas Deckers Wehnert & Elsner told reporters at the court: ‘This is not about a conviction, but a cessation of the trial with no admission of guilt. There will be no guilty verdict whatsoever and that clearly changes the situation in terms of the evidence and legal position, otherwise the talks between the prosecution and defence would not have been possible.’ Source: Sporting Life
