Eversheds Sutherland is expanding in the Czech Republic through a consolidation with local firm Kropáček LEGAL.
The incoming 13-strong team includes partner Pavel Kropáček alongside two principal associates, three senior associates, four associates, two paralegals and one business professional. The team specialises in real estate, litigation and corporate law. Kropáček will head up Eversheds’ newly formed development and infrastructure group within its wider real estate team.
Eversheds Sutherland says the consolidation reinforces its commitment to strategic growth across Central and Eastern Europe, with the combined team making up one of the largest real estate legal offerings in Prague.
The Czech Republic business forms part of Eversheds Sutherland's European network, which is made up of affiliated firms trading under the Eversheds Sutherland brand.
Managing partner Bořivoj Líbal said: “When I joined Eversheds Sutherland three years ago, our ambition was clear: to grow the practice by attracting outstanding legal professionals who not only embody our commitment to excellence but also share our long-term vision.
“This consolidation with Pavel and his team is a powerful realisation of that ambition. It significantly enhances our capabilities and enables us to deliver even more comprehensive, strategic and effective legal support to our clients across all key legal practice areas.”
Kropáček launched his eponymous firm back in 2013, having previously worked for various local firms, including Otrubova, Dvořák & Spol (which later became Dvořák Hagar & Partners and combined with Eversheds in 2018) and Brzobohaty Broz & Honsa.
He said: “In many ways, this marks a return for me – I began my legal career at Eversheds in 2010, when the firm operated under the name Dvořák & Spol. It’s been remarkable to witness the firm’s evolution since then. Rejoining Eversheds Sutherland represents a natural and strategic step for our team, offering our clients access to a broader spectrum of legal expertise and the strength of a truly global platform.”
Other firms that have been expanding in Central and Eastern Europe recently include Fieldfisher, which debuted in Poland in May with office openings in Warsaw and Krakow and the addition of 25 lawyers from local boutiques B2RLaw and LSW. Meanwhile, in February, Addleshaw Goddard expanded in Poland through the addition of Linklaters’ 80-lawyer Warsaw office.
Next month, meanwhile, Eversheds Sutherland’s International LLP is set to launch an Irish practice, having previously operated there as Eversheds Sutherland Ireland, a member of its European network. London-based Eversheds Sutherland’s international arm currently has European offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
