The firm has grown from being a two-office regional practice to a top 20 player in 12 locations and with a rollcall of 2,500 people. Andrew Leaitherland, now reappointed until 2018, reported turnover for the firm of £189m in 2013/14. It advises several household names - including Aviva and the Royal Bank of Scotland - and is included on the Financial Times listings of innovative law firms.

Do things differently

Mr Leaitherland said: 'We think there’s a big opportunity to do things differently and to change clients’ views of how astute legal services delivered in a different way can benefit their business.' Source: DWF
