Professor Joellen Riley replied to student calls by writing a letter to the student magazine in which she said: 'Treat it as a life lesson….Stuff does happen. Stuff will keep happening. This little typhoon-in-a-tea-cup could become a real tragedy if those students who have developed a grievance about this allow it to poison their experience of law school.' The alarm went off during a corporations law exam which was being sat by 450 students. Some students claimed later that the 25-minute pause allowed some colleagues to cheat and check notes.
