Linklaters has announced its move to a new global headquarters in London at 20 Ropemaker Street after three decades at One Silk Street.

The 360,000 sq ft space has been designed to support the firm’s emphasis on collaboration and performance, Linklaters said. It offers state-of-the-art facilities over 17 floors, including collaborative workspaces, a fitness centre, yoga studios, a high-spec events space, roof terraces and balconies, and a terrace café.

Aedamar Comiskey, Linklaters’ senior partner and chair, described the move as a “big moment” for the firm.

“Our move is an investment in our people and our clients,” she said. “A terrific modern space designed to support and promote our culture of high performance and teamwork – which are key to being able to deliver stand-out service to our clients.”

Paul Lewis, Linklaters’ managing partner, added: “Our strategy is to support the world’s leading corporates, banks, funds and financial sponsors on their most complex, cross-border mandates.

“Our new headquarters is key to that, providing a global hub for our teams to collaborate, innovate and deliver outstanding results for our clients as one global team.”

The building incorporates sustainable fit out design practices, including zero waste to landfill, efficient use of energy and water, and working with suppliers on their product and material environmental performance.

Other features include a more than 500 capacity cycle storage space, alongside an “active commuter” entrance designed to meet the highest environmental standards.

Last year, Linklaters announced an office move in Luxembourg, having signed an agreement with BPI Real Estate Luxembourg to move into a 5,468 sq m building in Kirchberg.

Additionally an expansion of its global litigation, arbitration and investigations practice in the Middle East was unveiled, with an on-the-ground presence in Dubai.

Overall Linklaters operates 30 offices across 20 countries mostly in Europe, as well as in the Americas, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. The firm is represented by 525 partners and just under 2,500 lawyers.
