Four private equity partners and legacy SJ Berwin lawyers – Shawn D’Aguiar, Patrick Deasey, Ed Hall and Ajay Pathak – have walked out on KWM Europe in favour of joining Goodwin Procter.
Following Halford
The team hire comes less than a week after it was announced that former KWM funds head Michael Halford had reemerged at Goodwin Procter after resigning from KWM as part of a four-partner walkout that halted the firm’s original £14m capital call. Goodwin Procter hinted at the time that it had ‘extended offers to certain other London-based KWM partners’, fueling speculation that Mr Halford’s team was soon to follow.
Partner profiles
Mr Pathak has been a partner at KWM since 1998 and head of the firm’s India business group. He has particular expertise in structuring investments into India. Mr Hall has been a partner with KWM for 14 years, while Mr D’Aquiar and Mr Deasey both joined the partnership in 2007. Mr Deasey is an emerging markets specialist who co-heads the firm’s Africa group.
