Norton Rose Fulbright has shut its office in Colombia, according to a report from Latin Lawyer. The move comes less than two months after the firm lost its Venezuela team to Dentons.

In a statement to the magazine, Norton Rose confirmed the office closure, saying ‘our focus in Latin America has changed, with our client activity and growth centered on our offices in Brazil and Mexico, which are in growth mode.’ The spokesman concluded, ‘therefore, it was decided that the best course of action for the Bogota team and Norton Rose Fulbright was to close the office.’ For more than 60 years, Norton Rose Fulbright has provided integrated domestic and international legal services to clients throughout Latin America. 

Dentons gain

In January, Dentons formed Despacho de Abogados miembros de Dentons SC, formerly the Venezuela practice of Norton Rose Fulbright, as part of their growth strategy in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Elliott Portnoy, global ceo of Dentons, said at the time ‘we are growing faster in Latin America and the Caribbean, and with truly high quality firm, as no one has ever done before.’
